A few weeks ago, Neal and I were able to visit the Eaton Hall, a local private estate that opens their grounds 4 times a year. Just 10 minutes from Chester. We visited the gardens before, and during our first visit saw other visitors with furry friends…so this year we decided to bring along Freddy — making it a fun end of summer afternoon out.
The grounds cover 88 acres, which include formal gardens, a small lake, an orchard, and a wildflower garden. Even driving up to the main entrance of the house is epic — the drive goes on after the ornate gates.
As you walk around the estate, it’s impossible to miss the clock tower that looks just like Big Ben in London.
For this open day, we decided to pack a few snack which were perfect when we had a bit of a break.
And the best part, Freddy seemed perfectly at ease exploring and strolling around the lovely grounds:The gardens at Eaton Hall are open four times a year, starting around Easter weekend until the end of August. There is a charge to enter on the Open Days, with all funds raised being sent to local charities.
I’d recommend visiting Eaton Hall Gardens during an Open Day next summer.Make a note to check the dates early next year, especially if you are making plans for a visit to Chester.
